I was getting a good lesson on putting on overgrips properly. . . .yes, you can mess this up.

Coach Mauro Marcos was watching me getting ready to throw away the Tournagrip I had just removed. He stopped me immediately and said, “Turn it over and use the other side. It’s brand new.” DUH! I looked at it and it was pretty much brand new.

I went to home depot and got some thin red electrical tape since the Tournagrip people only give you so many pieces of tape.

Use the other side of your tournagrip and get a two for one happy tennis hour discount.

I turned my use Tournagrip over and you can't tell it from brand new.

  1. Thanks for the tip. Those tourna grips can be darn expensive for someone who sweats as much as I do. Sometimes I have to let the grip dry out in the sun before I can re-apply it using the fresh (somewhat clean) side. I wonder if Pete Sampras used to recycle his grips by using the otherside… Hmmm makes me think.

  4. Isn’t this tip pretty amazingly unheard of?!
    I’ve showed it to hundreds of students, and
    nobody in so many tournagrip users ever knew.
    For me it was about 80’s broke college times,
    loving the new product that was so expensive
    and hard to get back in Brazil, it had to be
    imported, so I improvised to make them last!!
